Writing has always been a part of me, like the tide that pulls at the shore—constant, ever-changing, and always returning. Whether exploring the hidden treasures of Florida’s coastlines or sharing stories from my Florida Wild Series, writing is where I truly belong.
I’ve spent many years writing in the quiet, sometimes hidden spaces of my life, but now, I’m opening up to you. This Substack is an opportunity to connect, share, and take you along on my journey as a writer.
Why I’m Starting This Substack
So why now? Why a Substack? Over the years, my passion for storytelling has only grown, but it wasn’t until I walked away from teaching in 2021 that I fully embraced my dream of becoming a full-time writer. Writing has always been my calling, but there were moments in my life when I doubted it, set it aside, or buried it deep within. But just like the Florida tides, writing always came back to me. It’s time to share that journey with you.
This space is for anyone who’s ever wondered if they could really be a writer, for those who appreciate the power of storytelling, and for anyone who’s ever looked at the world around them and felt the desire to capture its beauty and mystery. I want to invite you into the world of Florida Wild, my writing process, and the magic of the landscapes that inspire me.
What to Expect on This Substack
You can expect to read posts about my personal journey as an author, tips for aspiring writers, and insights into the wild, untamed world of Florida that inspires much of my work. Some posts will delve into the craft of writing itself, offering advice on how to get started, stay motivated, and handle rejection—because I’ve been there. Other posts will share more about the beauty of Florida’s coastlines, wildlife, and ecosystems, all of which I’ve explored through the lens of my books.
One of my main projects, Low-Tide Exploration in Florida, is a story about the magic I found in Florida’s low tides—a magical world that reveals itself only when the tide pulls back. It was on these adventures with my dad that our bond grew stronger and I truly began to see the world for what it was—a place full of beauty, possibility, and stories waiting to be uncovered.
